Triumphant Independence Day Opening and Career Milestone The action-drama sequel Awarapan 2, starring Emraan Hashmi, has emerged as a massive theatrical success across Indian cinemas, breaching the coveted ₹100 crore domestic net collection threshold within just six days of release. Arriving in theaters on August 14, 2026, to capitalize on the extended Independence Day holiday weekend, the film recorded a career-best opening day for Hashmi, collecting ₹21.89 crore net domestically. Driven by nostalgia surrounding the 2007 cult classic original and strong single-screen demand, the sequel witnessed a 50 percent surge on its second day, driven by holiday crowd turnout. By outperforming competing releases and establishing early dominance across mass circuits, Awarapan 2 delivered the actor’s biggest solo theatrical performance in over a decade. Weekdays Momentum and Overseas Performance Produced by Vishesh Films, the narrative revives the iconic character Shivam Pandit as he navigates themes of crime, sacrifice, and redemption. Despite generating mixed critical reactions upon release, audience word-of-mouth fueled steady weekday ticket sales, enabling the film to comfortably sustain momentum beyond its initial four-day weekend. By the end of its first week, domestic net collections surpassed ₹111 crore, pushing worldwide gross earnings past the ₹150 crore milestone. International distribution also yielded strong results, particularly across the UAE, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) regions, and North America, contributing over ₹20 crore to total global grosses. Trade analysts credit the film's success to well-executed action sequences and a effective promotional campaign targeting tier-2 and tier-3 demographic hubs. Box Office Rankings and Digital Streaming Rights Achieving ₹100 crore in just six days positions Awarapan 2 as the third fastest Indian film to reach the century mark in 2026. The commercial performance re-establishes the viability of mid-budget action franchises in theatrical spaces, offering a significant boost to single-screen exhibitors nationwide. Alongside its theatrical run, news regarding post-theatrical distribution has surfaced. The makers have confirmed Amazon Prime Video as the official subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) partner for the film's digital premiere following the completion of its exclusive eight-week theatrical window. As theatrical attendance remains strong heading into its second week, trade tracking networks anticipate the film will maintain its box office trajectory until upcoming big-ticket releases enter the marketplace.
